As I’ve said before, there’s a lot to love about Springbank. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so. Video blogger Ralfy gave the distillery perhaps the highest possible compliment in a review of the 12 year old cask strength posted this week.
To malty-maniacky, nerdy, anoraky types like myself, it’s just fantastic. And that is why I have no hesitation in saying that, in my opinion, Springbank is Scotland’s finest distillery, bar none. If you are a whisky distillery anywhere in the world and you want to copy a Scotch whisky distillery, Springbank is the one you copy.
The rest of the review, in the video above, continues to heap praise on the distillery, where craft presentation is an integral part of the independent company’s history.
I enjoy Ralfy’s reviews because they go beyond opinion, offering a wealth of information to explain how he’s arrived at his conclusions. He tends to take a measured approach, so its interesting to hear such a clear-throated endorsement here.
Worth noting in passing that Springbank ranks very highly on WhiskyFun’s scheme of distillery ratings as well.
